Ence Pontevedra to resume pulp production next week

Spanish pulp and energy company Ence has announced to restart pulp production at the Pontevedra mill in the second week of November.

The start-up will be carried out gradually after the 3 and a half month stop, the company announced. Normal operations will be reached about a month later in the second week of December.

On 20 July the company stopped operations at the plant as instructed by the responsible regional authorities as it had been too dry in the region for too long. The required water level and ecological parameters in the flow of the Lérez River, from which Ence draws water for its production, have not yet been reached to date.

The Pontevedra mill, located in the northwestern part of Spain, has a capacity of 620,000 tpy of hardwood pulp.
