Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. announces core paperboard price increase. Price increase minimum 8 yen/kg, to take effect starting with December 1, 2018.
Nippon Paper carried out price revisions for core paperboard last July. However, the price of old corrugated carton, which is the principal raw material, is at high level as an international market product. In addition, the price of fuel, chip, chemicals for papermaking and logistic costs keep rising.
Nippon Paper has been promoting thorough cost reductions, but the company have been facing a difficult condition to secure reproducible profit through its independent efforts. Therefore, Nippon Paper decided the revision of the product prices.
