The Smurfit Kappa Group (SKG) will take downtime at its Pitea kraftliner mill in Sweden. The company announced several modernization measures for the site, which will be carried out during a 15-day shutdown in May.
SKG plans to upgrade the site’s cooking plant and recovery boiler, increasing their sustainability and efficiency and improving pulp quality. In addition, purification filters and an advanced combustion system are to be installed.
SKG produces kraftliner with an annual capacity of 700,000 t at the Pitea mill.
