In January 2023, the imports of wood pellets to Japan expanded 42% year-on-year to 456 thousand tonnes. the average price for wood pellets imported to Japan expanded 7% compared to the previous month and amounted to $242 per tonne. This is 30% more than a year ago when it was $187.

In 2022, Japan’s imports of wood pellets expanded 42% year-on-year to 4.4 million tonnes.
