Next step to structured tissue
Valmet’s Advantage QRT and Advantage eTAD technologies for tissue making meets the increasing market demands of products with high absorption, bulk and softness. It also provides a sustainable process and low energy consumption. The new tissue making concepts enables a wider range of tissue makers to get access to the premium and ultra premium market.
High bulk and absorbency at lowenergy consumption The receipt to reach the highest bulk and absorbencyis normally to avoid pressing and blow hot air through the web. With Valmet’s new tissue makingconcepts it is possible to achieve premium andultra-premium quality utilizing pressing in combinationwith Rush Transfer. This means significantlylower energy consumption compared to otherstructured tissue processes. |
Advantage QRT and
Advantage eTAD technologies
Valmet is proud to present that we now can offer the Advantage eTAD technology developed by Georgia-Pacific as well as our own Advantage QRT technology to customers who are looking for cost efficient ways to enter new market segments with high quality products produced in a sustainable way. The eTAD technology is available for customers outside North America. Both technologies are today running in commercial operation.
Both technologies are utilizing Rush transfer to create increased bulk and thereby absorbency. Pressing increase dryness and improve energy efficiency.

Valmet’s Advantage tissue making concepts are designed to meet tissue producers’ challenges of today and tomorrow. The Advantage DCT machine has become a trademark for cost-efficient production of plain or conventional tissue products with high quality. Close to 80 Advantage DCT machines sold all over the world are witnesses of its performance. Also, the Advantage ThruAirtechnology based on the TAD process is a strong performer in our technology family. Renowned for its ultra-premium quality with unbeatable absorbency and softness it has its clear position in top tier markets. When looking for maximum flexibility the Advantage NTT machine is an obvious choice. Its capability to produce plain and textured tissue with premium quality at low energy and fiber consumption is something many tissue producers have been waiting for.
All of our tissue making concepts can be combined with Valmet Focus rewinder technology which ensure that the initial tissue properties are preserved in the winding.
Advantage DCT Technology
Produce most types of conventional tissue with the highest quality in a cost-effective way
The Advantage DCT process has become a world standard for production of conventional tissue paper. It provides sustainable production of high tissue quality with low energy- and water consumption, high efficiency and reliability at low investment cost. The concept is available in various models and sizes to fulfill each specific production demands.
The Advantage DCT concept is well established on the market and is known for production of high quality tissue products of all grades from virgin or recycled pulp.
Since the launch in 2005, more than 70 Advantage DCT lines has been sold to all continents in the world.
Advantage NTT technology
The new standard in premium quality tissue making
The Advantage NTT concept is designed for maximum flexibility and can easily swing between cost-efficient production of conventional tissue and high quality textured tissue in a few hours.
In “plain mode” it is possible to produce very high volumes of tissue products with high softness at low energy consumption.
Textured mode provides the possibility to produce premium quality tissue with 50-100% more bulk and softness as well as water absorbency. Fiber savings up to 30% can be obtained du to the increased bulk.
The Advantage NTT technology is easy to operate, has high machine efficiency and operates at high speed. The operating cost is comparable to the Advantage DCT technology for textured tissue and less in conventional mode. It is particularly suited for production of premium quality bath, towel, facial and napkin grades from virgin or recycled pulp.
Structured Tissue – AdvantageTHRU-AIR Technology
Supreme quality with unbeatable absorbency and softness
Consumer demand has led to an impressive growth in the quantity and variety of TAD products on the market. The TAD process delivers a product that is softer and more absorbent than conventional technology allows; characteristics that consumers really value.
The TAD process is removing water first by vacuum and then by passing hot air through the sheet. This generates a high bulk fully structured sheet. A distinctive pattern is then imparted to the sheet as it passes through the dry press by the TAD fabric to produce a soft, flexible and bulky product.
With about 50 Valmet TAD technology tissue making machines, plus rebuilds and air systems installed worldwide, we are well qualified to bring this technology to you at the lowest possible cost.
Valmet’s Thru-Air Drying technology is one of the most effective drying methods for increasing bulk and softness as well as strength and absorption. It is particularly suited for production of superior quality bath, towel and napkin grades from virgin or recycled pulp.
Textured tissue with Advantage NTT Technology
Textured tissue with high bulk and less fibers
Textured tissue is produced with the Advantage NTT technology and provides premium quality paper of all tissue grades. The NTT belt provides 50 – 100% more bulk and softness as well as increased water absorbency and offers almost limitless potential regards to belt design. Fiber savings up to 30% can be obtained due to the increased bulk.
The Advantage NTT concept is designed for maximum flexibility and can easily swing between cost-efficient production of conventional tissue and high quality textured tissue.
The energy consumption in textured mode is significantly lower compared to the TAD process while in plain mode it is comparable or lower than other conventional tissue making processes. With the Advantage NTT process in textured mode it is possible to achieve both high bulk and high dryness at the same time.
Conventional tissue with increased softness and significantly lower energy consumption
Increased pressing in combination with the plain NTT belt gives significant energy savings while at the same time it provides a very high softness.
The Advantage NTT technology is easy to operate, has high machine efficiency and operates at high speed. It is particularly suited for production of premium quality bath, towel, facial and napkin grades from virgin or recycled pulp.
Solution for Plain tissue – Advantage DCT
