Total U.S. Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Shipments Increased Fourteen Percent in September 2020

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has released its September 2020 Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly report. According to the report, total packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in September increased 14 percent compared to September 2019. They were up to four percent when compared to the same nine months of 2019.

  • The operating rate was 92.3 percent, up 6.7 points from September 2019 and essentially flat (-0.1 pts.) year-to-date.
  • Mill inventories at the end of September decreased 3,000 short tons from the previous month and were up 12,000 short tons compared to September 2019.
